Paradise Cove Luau, Oahu

You're in Hawaii, why wouldn't you go to a Luau! Paradise Cove is as fine an example as you can find of this traditional Hawaiian celebration

A Luau is a traditional Hawaiian celebration. To call it a feast would be to dramatically sell it short. It is a unique festival whereby skills are taught, exchanged or challenged. It is where tribes would prime their young, welcome guests or simply have a good time!

At the Paradise Cove Luau, a tropical Mai Tai greeting and live Hawaiian music set the festive mood for the evening. Stroll through the Hawaiian Village and learn the arts and crafts of old Hawaii, which are as beautiful as they are intricate and complex. Learn how to make a traditional Hawaiian lei (garland of flowers) or leave with a slightly more permanent memory, in the form of a temporary Polynesian tattoo. In times gone by games were created as a form of entertainment and also to develop the skills of the warriors. At Paradise Cove you will be challenged to take part in some of the more popular traditional games including ‘O‘o ihe (Spear throwing), ‘Ulu maika (Rolling stone disks) and Moa pahe‘e (Dart sliding).

Following the delightful Shower of Flowers, you may participate in the Hukilau on the Beach where you will learn the net fishing techniques of old Hawaii before observing the pageantry of the Royal Court Procession and the time-honored techniques of underground oven cooking at the Imu Ceremony. The evening continues with a feast in the company of friends, old and new, so bring your appetite to fully enjoy the extensive menu which blends the best of traditional Hawaiian dishes, local favorites and continental cuisine. With the most spectacular Hawaiian sunset as a backdrop, the award-winning performers will entertain through a spectacular display of Hawaiian and Polynesian song and dance.
